NIKKI WACHLAROWICZ, LGSW
SHE/HER
I’m a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and therapist in Minneapolis, MN. I work with people experiencing a wide range of presenting issues, and am particularly passionate about holding space for those working through anxiety, major life transitions, grief and sorrow, various forms of relational trauma and with folks navigating the intersections of mixed racial and sexual identities. I work from an attachment-based, trauma-informed lens, and I find it helpful to incorporate mindfulness and pull in the body and nervous system into practice whenever possible.
Trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, I lean on psychodynamic and experiential approaches, and regularly explore somatic awareness with my clients. In our work together, you can expect to feel nurtured, challenged, seen, heard, and empowered. I’ll help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, develop new patterns, create deeper meaning in your life, and develop healthier relationships, which I believe is one of life’s best medium through which people can heal and grow.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I volunteered and worked with new parents in postpartum and NICU settings, shelters with people experiencing housing instability, and teaching trauma-informed yoga to teen girls in the juvenile justice system. I also spent several years at home with my children, giving me a deep understanding of the importance of healthy work and family life balance.
When not sitting with clients, I enjoy spending time with family, dancing and dining with friends, being in nature, and daydreaming. A self-proclaimed creative, I approach life in an intuitive, spontaneous way, much like creating art.
I celebrate all identities and abilities in all bodies. I also acknowledge that the field of therapy as it currently stands is lacking in diversity. As such, I approach therapy from a multicultural perspective and warmly encourage those of minoritized/marginalized identities to reach out. I honor everyone as they are, and would be humbled and honored to be a part of your healing journey.
